TAKING CARE OF YOUR ORAL HEALTH:
  • A good oral hygiene regime can help you with your overall health.
  • To promote healthy tissues and to remove debris, brush your mouth and gums with a soft toothbrush.
  • Food and tartar can collect on your denture teeth and on the denture base causing bacteria and fungal growth. It is important to soak your dentures in an approved cleanser and brush them as well to avoid this from happening.
  • See us for your annual recare appointment so that your oral health and the effectiveness of your dentures can be maintained.

TAKING CARE OF YOUR DENTURES:

  • Brush with a denture brush and denture paste or with a little bit of dish soap.  DO NOT USE TOOTHPASTE ON YOUR DENTURES!! Toothpaste and regular toothbrushes can scratch your denture allowing bacteria and debris to stick even better.
  • Soak your dentures in water and a cleanser approved by your denturist when not in your mouth. Soaking allows cleanser to get into areas that paste and brushes can't reach.
  • Dentures should be kept in plain water overnight.
  • Take your dentures out when you go to bed to give your mouth a rest and to allow blood to circulate. When removing dentures from your mouth BE CAREFUL. Dentures are fragile and dropping them can chip and break teeth or the denture itself. Fill a sink with water before taking your dentures out to cushion a fall if it were to happen.
  • Replacement of dentures is on average every 5-7 years.

SOFT AND TEMPORARY RELINES:

  • These relines should be used ONLY with cleansers approved by your denturist
  • Rinse your dentures after every meal and clean twice a day with a soft toothbrush
  • DO NOT soak this denture type overnight
